1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR covers new finished radio broadcast receivers for household, emergency, tabletop, or portable use. A covered receiver may combine broadcast reception with a loudspeaker, display, clock, or sound recording and reproducing apparatus. The declared product configuration shall identify every reception band or frequency range, analogue modulation or digital broadcast system, portable or tabletop form, power source, battery, loudspeaker, display, clock, and recording or playback function that is present.

The PCR does not cover receivers designed for installation or use in motor vehicles, television receivers, radio transmitters, telecommunications receivers, parts sold without a finished receiver, or pure audio players that cannot receive radio broadcasts. A multifunction product is covered only when radio broadcast reception is a marketed and testable function and television reception is absent.

The core foreground boundary is cradle-to-factory-gate production of one kilogram of finished receivers. Cradle-to-grave studies shall add the conditional use-phase and end-of-life processes and shall declare service life, playback and standby schedules, regional electricity, battery replacements, and treatment scenarios. No category-wide numerical default is supplied; measured foreground records and explicitly documented product scenarios are required.
