1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR specifies foreground data production for unseasoned quick-frozen peas made from young, tender peas of Pisum sativum L. It covers receipt of fresh peas, shelling when required, cleaning, sorting, washing, blanching, cooling and draining, quick freezing, inspection, packaging, and on-site frozen storage up to release at the factory cold-store gate. It is suitable for bulk or retail-packed, sized or unsized, individually quick-frozen or block-frozen peas when the presentation is declared.

Agricultural cultivation, harvested-pea transport to the factory, manufacture of purchased energy, water, packaging and refrigerants, outbound distribution, retail, cooking, consumption, and end-of-life are outside the foreground boundary. Those stages require linked upstream or downstream datasets when a complete life-cycle model is constructed. Peas canned, dried, fresh, mixed with other foods, seasoned, sauced, or otherwise preserved but not frozen are outside this category.
