Classification mapping

CPC 3.0:01359 · exact

Source

1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR covers cultivated fruit crops that are not assigned to a more specific fruit category and are reported as whole, fresh fruit at a declared farm-gate or first declared hand-off. It is intentionally crop-neutral: the data package must identify the actual fruit species or botanical group, cultivar or variety group, production system, and market state. The route may be open-field, orchard, vine, shrub, protected cultivation, or another managed horticultural system supported by the site record.

The default foreground boundary runs from the managed production site and attributable establishment phase through harvest, optional primary conditioning, grading or destination sorting, optional pre-gate cooling or short storage, and optional packaging to the declared gate. Retail, consumer use, downstream distribution, processing into juice, pulp, dried fruit, preserves or other ingredients, wild collection, nursery production, and unrelated infrastructure are excluded unless explicitly declared as a separate study scope. A product-specific route can omit conditional nodes, but it must record the omission and the actual hand-off state.

2. Product Category Identity

FieldValue

classification_refsCPC 3.0 / 01359; mapping relation: exact
covered_productsCultivated fresh whole fruits not covered by a more specific fruit PCR; the actual species or botanical group must be declared.
excluded_productsWild-collected fruit; nursery or planting material; fruit processed into juice, pulp, puree, dried, preserved, fermented or otherwise transformed products; retail and consumer stages.
representative_productMarketable fresh whole fruit of the declared species or botanical group at the declared farm-gate or first hand-off.
production_routeManaged annual or perennial horticultural production; harvest; optional primary conditioning; grading or destination sorting; optional cooling/storage; optional packaging; declared gate hand-off.
market_stateFresh whole fruit, with maturity, grade, moisture or dry-matter basis where relevant, and destination state declared.

The CPC leaf is a classification reference, not a substitute for product identity. A data package that combines different fruit species or routes must disclose the mixture and use a documented product- or mass-based aggregation method; it must not silently transfer a species-specific factor from another fruit.

3. Reference Flow

Required qualifiersspecies or botanical group; cultivar or variety group; annual or perennial route; production system; site and geography; crop year or reporting period; establishment phase treatment; harvest maturity; net marketable mass; grade and destination states; field, conditioning, storage and packaging scope; reject, residue, rework and recovery fates; irrigation and energy; fertilizer product and nutrient basis; allocation basis; gate and hand-off.

When constructing a foreground data package, every item in Required qualifiers must be declared in dataset metadata, process notes, the reference-flow comment, product description, or an equivalent data-package field. Missing qualifiers make the reference flow incomplete.

Each foreground dataset must explicitly select one actual route, declared gate, product state and output row. Reconcile the selected terminal route with reference_product_at_declared_handoff; normalize that handoff output to the reference quantity and retain preceding-stage outputs as measured transfers. Raw weighing, mass reconciliation and lot traceability requirements continue to apply.

The sole reference output is reference_product_at_declared_handoff, receiving the selected actual route product at the declared gate. Existing route-output ids identify the source and physical state; they are no longer individually fixed to the reference quantity.

FieldValue
declared_starting_conditionManaged cultivated fruit site and declared crop cycle or perennial production phase, with attributable establishment inputs included where applicable.
starting_condition_roleStart of foreground managed biological production before the fruit crop receives site-specific management inputs.
product_classification_scopeCultivated fresh whole fruit within the semantic category Other fruits, n.e.c.; CPC 3.0 / 01359 is a mapping reference only.
recursive_input_ruleStop same-category recursion at a declared purchased planting input, fertilizer or amendment, crop-protection product, utility, packaging material, or treatment service; link a suitable upstream dataset instead of expanding the same category recursively.
upstream_dataset_requirementProvide suitable background datasets for purchased inputs, energy and water supply, packaging, waste or wastewater treatment, and any outsourced service crossing the declared boundary.

boundary_04recursive inputs and servicesTreat purchased materials, utilities, packaging and treatment services as upstream inputs. Do not recurse into another fruit PCR or invent a product identity when the input remains unresolved.iso-14044-2006
boundary_05losses, residues and rejectsKeep field losses, culls, downgraded fruit, rejected fruit, wash solids, packaging waste and residuals in the foreground until a documented recovery, co-product, treatment or disposal hand-off is recorded.fao-postharvest-handling-fruits; mass-balance-identity

The managed biological production node is separate from harvesting and conditioning: production creates the crop and the intended fruit state, harvesting removes and hands off the collected output, and conditioning or grading changes the post-harvest state. Annual crops and perennial crops must be distinguished. For perennial crops, establishment, productive phases, replacement, termination and any shared asset or structure allocation are period-indexed rather than silently assigned to a single harvest.

The production mode is seasonal and campaign-based. Each annual crop cycle, perennial phase, harvest campaign, conditioning batch, storage lot and packaging run is indexed. A packhouse that operates continuously must still link its shared utilities and changeovers to the fruit campaign or lot; it must not assign a full continuous-run burden to one fruit output without a documented attribution basis.

Urea fertilizer (fruit_site_establishment_and_crop_cycle_agricultural_nutrient_inputs_urea)

Collection scope and applicability for fruit_site_establishment_and_crop_cycle_agricultural_nutrient_inputs. The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. They are not mandatory inputs or a default recipe. Document non-use; missing records are not zero. Add a separate concrete card for any other actual material instead of substituting one of these names or UUIDs. Preserve attribution and boundaries and avoid double counting components included in outsourced services.

Collect each fertilizer product separately. Preserve each actual product identity, quantity, formulation, nutrient composition, application event, and allocation; do not count a compound product more than once. Raw activity or stage basis: per 1,000 kg marketable gate output.

Confirm identity, grade, state and unit from equipment, supplier and contemporaneous measurements; the product UUID does not establish actual use or upstream-provider compatibility. Count physical product mass once and retain moisture, N/P/K composition and application events; nutrient quantities are calculated attributes, not additional purchases of the same product. Give unlisted compound and organic fertilizers separate cards identified by formulation or feedstock.

  • Selected flow: Urea 3f8850c0-f718-4c4b-8fcb-8fd42e03aa8e

Fruit washing wastewater (conditioning_wastewater)

Only for the actual aqueous washing discharge or treatment hand-off; record its composition and destination. Suspended solids remaining in this stream belong to this wastewater, not a separate solids exchange. Keep the specific UUID unresolved until a compatible waste identity and receiving route are verified.

  • Selected flow: Fruit washing wastewater
  • Flow property / unit: Volume / m3
  • Amount rule: Measure this separate stream under cp_conditioning_records. Reconcile supplied water, recirculation, evaporation, water retained in products and removed solids, and actual discharge, keeping mass and volume balances dimensionally separate. Convert volume to mass only using a supported stream-specific density. Normalize the attributed stream quantity by matched accepted final output and multiply by the declared reference quantity in the same product unit; retain measured stage-to-final output ratios. Do not normalize twice or invent a solids split. Retain separate treatment responsibility without double counting.

Process: Product Measurement at the Declared Handoff (declared_reference_handoff)

This node records the actual product handoff at the existing system boundary for reconciliation and reference-quantity normalization. It adds no physical processing and does not presume drying, cooling, storage, packaging or transport. Each data package declares one actual route, one terminal product state, moisture or dry-matter basis, and gate. Feed only the accepted product delivered by that route at that gate into this node; do not add other routes as extra inputs. Record co-products separately and apply Section 7. Count preceding inputs, losses and emissions once. Normalize using the measured accepted net mass at the handoff; this measurement node changes neither mass, yield nor allocation.

The PCR does not force one allocation method for every route. The dataset must select and justify one method for each genuine multi-output boundary, apply it consistently, and disclose sensitivity where material. In a single-output route, culls and residues remain loss or waste unless their intended function is evidenced.

Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.

rule_idApplies toRulesource_ids
allocation_residual_precedenceremaining common burden with no specified primary branchResolve any study-specific joint-product instruction in this PCR that has no specified primary branch using this precedence; retain an already explicitly prescribed category-specific primary method. First directly assign separable output-specific activities. For the remaining common burden B, use a physical driver d_i only when measured operation or biological-service records demonstrate the causal consumption represented by that driver. A product being weighable, valuable or lower grade alone is insufficient; do not switch arbitrarily between area, time, mass and revenue. For comparable grades receiving the same common handling, measured processed mass is applicable only with the same service demand, state and moisture basis demonstrated. Share a_i=d_i/sum(d_j); B_i=Ba_i. If no defensible causal physical driver exists for that common operation, use gate- and period-matched economic shares a_i=(q_ip_i)/sum(q_j*p_j), with the complete independently intended output set, compatible quantity/price units, currency, representative prices and values before output-specific downstream processing. Missing price or denominator evidence makes the allocated result incomplete, not a zero-priced product or a single-output system. Report shares summing to one and sensitivity to a material alternative; an alternative is not an interchangeable primary result. Waste, retained residues and internal transfers receive no co-product share, while their attributable production/handling burdens remain with the producing saleable route. Retain unallocated physical quantities and mass balances separately. This branch gives no automatic substitution credit; any separately scoped substitution analysis retains the gross inventory and its actual displaced-function evidence.ghg-protocol-product-standard-2011

8. Foreground Data Collection, Calculation, and Quality Rules

Specific input identification before dataset completion

Identify the actual input for this operation from supplier specifications, equipment and primary records. This is a mandatory collection requirement, not an exchange. Before dataset completeness, represent each used material, formulated product, carrier or independently purchased service by one physically specific card with its native quantity/property; confirm a compatible UUID, or retain an explicit unresolved identity and do not claim a fully linked dataset. Do not substitute a conditional example for an unknown actual input, invent a recipe, omit required use or infer zero from missing records. Attribute shared use, reusable assets and inclusive services once; preserve the original stage/period and measured throughput link to final reference output. The former aggregate range is not a component limit or consumption default.

Retain raw site, lot, cycle and stage quantities and denominators in each collection protocol. Reconcile stocks, losses, moisture and co-product attribution first, then normalize: normalized exchange = attributable raw exchange × declared reference quantity / accepted hand-off product quantity on the same boundary and measurement basis. Apply perennial-establishment and shared-operation attribution before this normalization. Never set an internal-transfer quantity equal to the final reference quantity. Per declared reference flow means the amount, unit and product state in section 3; the data package must declare its actual route and gate.

The first dataset is produced from primary records. Annual crops are linked to their crop cycle and harvest campaign; perennial crops link establishment, productive phases, replacement and termination events to the reporting period.

boundary_01foreground startStart at the managed cultivated fruit site and the declared crop cycle or perennial production phase; include attributable establishment inputs when the represented phase depends on them.fao-good-farming-practices, iso-14044-2006
boundary_02production and harvestInclude site preparation and management, actual planting material, fertilizer or amendments, crop protection, irrigation, land occupation, field energy, harvest and the hand-off to the first declared post-harvest node.fao-fruit-vegetable-production-practices-2024, fao-quality-safety-fresh-fruits-2004
boundary_03post-harvest routeInclude primary cleaning or washing, drying, grading, sorting, cooling, short storage and packaging only when each activity occurs before the declared gate; keep distribution and logistics outside unless separately declared.fao-postharvest-handling-fruits, fao-packinghouse-operations-1986
boundary_04recursive inputs and servicesTreat purchased materials, utilities, packaging and treatment services as upstream inputs. Do not recurse into another fruit PCR or invent a product identity when the input remains unresolved.iso-14044-2006
boundary_05losses, residues and rejectsKeep field losses, culls, downgraded fruit, rejected fruit, wash solids, packaging waste and residuals in the foreground until a documented recovery, co-product, treatment or disposal hand-off is recorded.fao-postharvest-handling-fruits, mass-balance-identity
system_boundary_rule_6foreground_system_boundaryThe managed biological production node is separate from harvesting and conditioning: production creates the crop and the intended fruit state, harvesting removes and hands off the collected output, and conditioning or grading changes the post-harvest state. Annual crops and perennial crops must be distinguished. For perennial crops, establishment, productive phases, replacement, termination and any shared asset or structure allocation are period-indexed rather than silently assigned to a single harvest.
Allocation rules · 8
Rule IDApplies toRuleSource IDs
allocation_01annual and perennial phasesAllocate establishment, perennial plants, structures and shared phases by documented area-time, plant-year, crop-cycle, throughput or another justified physical basis, with period indexing disclosed.iso-14044-2006, fao-good-farming-practices
allocation_02shared farm, packhouse and campaign resourcesAttribute shared meters, machinery, storage, conditioning lines and changeovers once using measured activity, run-time, throughput or area; retain batch linkage.iso-14044-2006, mass-balance-identity
allocation_03marketable and downgraded fruitTreat marketable fresh fruit as reference output. Treat downgraded or recovered fruit as co-product only when function, destination, quantity, state and hand-off are documented.iso-14044-2006, fao-packinghouse-operations-1986
allocation_04rework, returns and rejectsKeep burden on off-spec material until its declared rework, downgrade, recovery, treatment or disposal hand-off; never count rework as both reject and accepted output.mass-balance-identity, iso-14044-2006
allocation_05recovery and substitutionDo not claim avoided production from a destination label alone; require recipient, function, comparable product, quantity, quality, fate and attribution method.iso-14044-2006
allocation_rule_6foreground_burden_allocationThe PCR does not force one allocation method for every route. The dataset must select and justify one method for each genuine multi-output boundary, apply it consistently, and disclose sensitivity where material. In a single-output route, culls and residues remain loss or waste unless their intended function is evidenced.
allocation_rule_7foreground_burden_allocationConcrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.
allocation_residual_precedenceremaining common burden with no specified primary branchResolve any study-specific joint-product instruction in this PCR that has no specified primary branch using this precedence; retain an already explicitly prescribed category-specific primary method. Share a_i=d_i/sum(d_j); B_i=B*a_i. If no defensible causal physical driver exists for that common operation, use gate- and period-matched economic shares a_i=(q_i*p_i)/sum(q_j*p_j), with the complete independently intended output set, compatible quantity/price units, currency, representative prices and values before output-specific downstream processing.
