Classification mapping
Source
1. Scope and Applicability
This PCR guides construction of a foreground data package for a cultivated cereal grain classified in CPC 3.0 01199 Other cereals n.e.c. and not represented by a named CPC cereal leaf with a dedicated PCR. The category is residual by classification, so the dataset must identify the biological crop, cultivar where material, intended use, and physical market state.
The boundary runs from seed-for-sowing and crop establishment through field operations, harvest, primary drying, cleaning, tempering and grading to delivery of tempered grain at the primary-conditioning gate, or at a declared later storage or hand-off gate. An earlier farm-gate output is a measured internal transfer only and cannot be selected as the reference output under this PCR. A route ending before tempering falls outside this PCR scope. Food, feed, industrial, and specialty grain uses are covered only when the use and quality state are declared.
This PCR excludes named cereal categories with dedicated PCR coverage, including buckwheat, canary seed, fonio, millet, quinoa, triticale, rye, sorghum, wheat, barley, oats, rice, maize, and any other crop separately classified with a narrower applicable PCR. It also excludes seed sold for sowing, whole-crop forage, hay, silage, flour, malt, starch, alcohol, prepared foods, feed manufacture, retail packaging, consumer use, and downstream transport beyond the declared gate.
2. Product Category Identity
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| canonical_pcr_id | pcr.agriculture-forestry-and-fishery-products.products-of-agriculture-horticulture-and-market-gardening.other-cereals-n-e-c |
| classification_refs | CPC 3.0 01199, Other cereals n.e.c.; mapping relation: narrower |
| covered_products | tempered grain from a residual cereal crop not separately represented by a named CPC cereal leaf, delivered at a declared primary-conditioning gate |
| excluded_products | named cereal categories with dedicated PCRs; sowing seed; forage and whole-crop products; milled, malted, fermented, prepared, or retail products |
| representative_product | identified other cereal grain, tempered after primary conditioning, at the declared gate and moisture basis |
| production_route | annual or perennial cereal crop establishment, field production, harvest, primary conditioning, and declared gate hand-off |
| market_state | bulk or packaged tempered grain with crop identity, intended use, moisture basis, grade, geography, crop year, and gate declared |
3. Reference Flow
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| What | identified tempered grain in the CPC 01199 residual category at the declared primary-conditioning or subsequent storage/hand-off gate |
| How much | 1 kg |
| How well | biological crop and cultivar where material; intended use; as-is or dry-matter moisture basis; grade or quality descriptors; tempering and cleaning state; geography; crop year; and declared gate |
| How long or cycle | one declared crop cycle and harvest year; storage duration is declared separately when the gate follows storage |
| reference_flow_link | reference_product_at_declared_handoff |
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Reference amount | 1 |
| Reference product flow | Tempered cereal grain |
| Reference flow property | Mass 93a60a56-a3c8-11da-a746-0800200b9a66 |
| Reference unit group | Units of mass 93a60a57-a4c8-11da-a746-0800200c9a66 |
| Reference unit | kg |
| Required qualifiers | crop identity and cultivar where material; residual CPC 01199 classification; intended use; moisture basis; grade or quality descriptors; tempering/cleaning/drying status; geography; crop year; selected primary-conditioning or subsequent storage/hand-off gate; bulk or packaging state |
When constructing a foreground data package, declare every required qualifier in dataset metadata, process notes, the reference-flow comment, the product description, or an equivalent data-package field. A specific named cereal must be redirected to its narrower PCR when one exists.
Each foreground dataset must explicitly select one actual route, declared gate, product state and output row. Reconcile the selected terminal route with reference_product_at_declared_handoff; normalize that handoff output to the reference quantity and retain preceding-stage outputs as measured transfers. Raw weighing, mass reconciliation and lot traceability requirements continue to apply.
The sole reference output is reference_product_at_declared_handoff, receiving the selected actual route product at the declared gate. Existing route-output ids identify the source and physical state; they are no longer individually fixed to the reference quantity.
4. Measurement and Unit Rules

moisture_basis | harvested and conditioned grain | Mass and moisture content | kg and percent | Record as-is mass and measured moisture; if dry-matter conversion is used, retain the measured moisture and formula. |
nutrient_input_basis | fertilizer and nitrogen emissions | Mass | kg product and kg nutrient | Retain commercial fertilizer product mass and declared N, P2O5, and K2O separately; use kg N for nitrogen emission calculations. |

Urea fertilizer (other_cereal_crop_production_agricultural_nutrient_inputs_urea)
Collection scope and applicability for other_cereal_crop_production_agricultural_nutrient_inputs. The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. They are not mandatory inputs or a default recipe. Document non-use; missing records are not zero. Add a separate concrete card for any other actual material instead of substituting one of these names or UUIDs. Preserve attribution and boundaries and avoid double counting components included in outsourced services.
Collect each fertilizer product separately. Preserve each actual product identity, quantity, formulation, nutrient composition, application event, and allocation; do not count a compound product more than once. Raw activity or stage basis: per 1,000 kg accepted grain at the declared gate.
Confirm identity, grade, state and unit from equipment, supplier and contemporaneous measurements; the product UUID does not establish actual use or upstream-provider compatibility. Count physical product mass once and retain moisture, N/P/K composition and application events; nutrient quantities are calculated attributes, not additional purchases of the same product. Give unlisted compound and organic fertilizers separate cards identified by formulation or feedstock.

Rework returned across this node is one paired transfer, or retained in closing stock if still held; it is not another final output. An unexplained balance difference is an investigation item, not automatically a physical waste or emission. Do not add removed lots to receipts, omit closing stock, or subtract a loss again when it is already part of this reported stream. Process: Product Measurement at the Declared Handoff (declared_reference_handoff)
This node records the actual product handoff at the existing system boundary for reconciliation and reference-quantity normalization. It adds no physical processing and does not presume drying, cooling, storage, packaging or transport. Each data package declares one actual route, one terminal product state, moisture or dry-matter basis, and gate. Feed only the accepted product delivered by that route at that gate into this node; do not add other routes as extra inputs. Record co-products separately and apply Section 7. Count preceding inputs, losses and emissions once. Normalize using the measured accepted net mass at the handoff; this measurement node changes neither mass, yield nor allocation.

7. Allocation and Co-product Handling
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
allocation_avoidance | crop, harvest, conditioning, and storage | First avoid allocation by subdividing operations whenever field, machine, batch, or storage records support separate process nodes. | iso-14044-2006 |
allocation_grain_and_residue | accepted grain and removed residue | Treat field-return residue according to its declared fate. When removed residue or a co-product shares an inseparable process, apply an explicitly declared physical or economic allocation and disclose sensitivity. | iso-14044-2006; mass-balance-identity |
allocation_screenings_and_rejects | screenings, damaged grain, and storage loss | Record accepted grain, screenings, rejects, and losses as separate streams with fates. Do not allocate rejected material to the reference output without documented rework or allocation. | iso-14044-2006; mass-balance-identity |
allocation_substitution | residue or by-product use | Apply substitution only when the displaced product, market, route, and evidence are declared; do not infer a credit from a generic residue name. | iso-14044-2006 |
Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
allocation_residual_precedence | remaining common burden with no specified primary branch | Resolve any study-specific joint-product instruction in this PCR that has no specified primary branch using this precedence; retain an already explicitly prescribed category-specific primary method. First directly assign separable output-specific activities. For the remaining common burden B, use a physical driver d_i only when measured operation or biological-service records demonstrate the causal consumption represented by that driver. A product being weighable, valuable or lower grade alone is insufficient; do not switch arbitrarily between area, time, mass and revenue. For comparable grades receiving the same common handling, measured processed mass is applicable only with the same service demand, state and moisture basis demonstrated. Share a_i=d_i/sum(d_j); B_i=Ba_i. If no defensible causal physical driver exists for that common operation, use gate- and period-matched economic shares a_i=(q_ip_i)/sum(q_j*p_j), with the complete independently intended output set, compatible quantity/price units, currency, representative prices and values before output-specific downstream processing. Missing price or denominator evidence makes the allocated result incomplete, not a zero-priced product or a single-output system. Report shares summing to one and sensitivity to a material alternative; an alternative is not an interchangeable primary result. Waste, retained residues and internal transfers receive no co-product share, while their attributable production/handling burdens remain with the producing saleable route. Retain unallocated physical quantities and mass balances separately. This branch gives no automatic substitution credit; any separately scoped substitution analysis retains the gross inventory and its actual displaced-function evidence. | ghg-protocol-product-standard-2011 |
8. Foreground Data Collection, Calculation, and Quality Rules
Specific input identification before dataset completion
Identify the actual input for this operation from supplier specifications, equipment and primary records. This is a mandatory collection requirement, not an exchange. Before dataset completeness, represent each used material, formulated product, carrier or independently purchased service by one physically specific card with its native quantity/property; confirm a compatible UUID, or retain an explicit unresolved identity and do not claim a fully linked dataset. Do not substitute a conditional example for an unknown actual input, invent a recipe, omit required use or infer zero from missing records. Attribute shared use, reusable assets and inclusive services once; preserve the original stage/period and measured throughput link to final reference output. The former aggregate range is not a component limit or consumption default.

Retain raw site, lot, cycle and stage quantities and denominators in each collection protocol. Reconcile stocks, losses, moisture and co-product attribution first, then normalize: normalized exchange = attributable raw exchange × declared reference quantity / accepted hand-off product quantity on the same boundary and measurement basis. Apply perennial-establishment and shared-operation attribution before this normalization. Never set an internal-transfer quantity equal to the final reference quantity. Per declared reference flow means the amount, unit and product state in section 3; the data package must declare its actual route and gate.

conditioning_rejects_identity_and_fate | other_cereal_primary_conditioning | The conditioning_rejects collection role is mandatory when the original operation generates these materials. Record the actual material, composition, state, measured mass and destination separately for each physically distinct stream. Dust, chaff, grain, packaging and product rejects must not share one exchange merely because they arise at the same operation. A physically mixed stream may have one card only with its composition and treatment boundary documented. For downgraded produce, distinguish intended saleable co-products supported by recipient and use evidence from actual waste sent to treatment; a lower grade alone does not determine waste status or allocation. Keep on-site rework/internal returns and in-field retained biomass in reconciled internal ledgers instead of exporting them as waste. Create concrete product or waste cards as appropriate before completeness, with a compatible verified UUID or explicit unresolved identity; keep every attributable burden, do not credit unsubstantiated substitution, and do not count any stream twice. Normalize measured quantities once to the original accepted reference output. A missing identity, amount or destination blocks completeness; no aggregate default or numeric bound is inferred. | cp_conditioning_reject_records | Identity-specific exchanges and reconciled activity records |
Environmental Coverage Calculation Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Formula or rule | Inputs | Output | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
calc_managed_environment_coverage | actual managed-production nodes | For the actual owned managed-production node(s), require an applicability ledger for direct soil N2O, volatilisation/deposition-derived indirect N2O, leaching/runoff-derived indirect N2O, NH3/NOx and nutrient losses, plus actual liming/urea-use CO2. Primary calculation precedence is a representative pathway measurement, then a validated site/national method applicable to the crop, soil and management; otherwise use the compatible 2006 IPCC/2019-refined managed-soil equations and climate/input-specific factor selection for N2O and lime/urea CO2. Retain the exact edition, equation, tier, activity and factor units, climate and management applicability; no universal dose or emission factor is prescribed. Non-soil/protected routes need a method valid for their actual medium; do not force soil factors onto an inapplicable route. Use the same period/field N ledger for synthetic and organic additions, residues, actual relevant mineralisation/organic-soil and excreta pathways; demonstrate absent pathways rather than infer zero. Calculate direct and each indirect component separately, then assign each once to matching existing or new concrete cards; never add a total to its components. Convert N2O-N to molecular N2O by 44/28 once. NH3, NOx and nutrient/pesticide loss require an applicable measured or documented substance/fate model; total N/P or an unexplained balance residual is not a compound release. Keep actual receiving compartments and molecular versus elemental/reporting bases explicit; indirect formation does not remove the same N from the source ledger twice. Include actual local combustion releases separately using fuel-specific combustion-only methods; purchased electricity/heat/services retain upstream coverage once. Add one identity-specific exchange only for a supported release and reuse an existing matching card, with verified UUID or explicit unresolved identity. Missing applicable method/activity/factor/identity blocks completeness; it is not a justified zero. Allocation rules · 6
| Rule ID | Applies to | Rule | Source IDs |
|---|---|---|---|
allocation_avoidance | crop, harvest, conditioning, and storage | First avoid allocation by subdividing operations whenever field, machine, batch, or storage records support separate process nodes. | iso-14044-2006 |
allocation_grain_and_residue | accepted grain and removed residue | Treat field-return residue according to its declared fate. When removed residue or a co-product shares an inseparable process, apply an explicitly declared physical or economic allocation and disclose sensitivity. | iso-14044-2006, mass-balance-identity |
allocation_screenings_and_rejects | screenings, damaged grain, and storage loss | Record accepted grain, screenings, rejects, and losses as separate streams with fates. Do not allocate rejected material to the reference output without documented rework or allocation. | iso-14044-2006, mass-balance-identity |
allocation_substitution | residue or by-product use | Apply substitution only when the displaced product, market, route, and evidence are declared; do not infer a credit from a generic residue name. | iso-14044-2006 |
allocation_rule_5 | foreground_burden_allocation | Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness. | |
allocation_residual_precedence | remaining common burden with no specified primary branch | Resolve any study-specific joint-product instruction in this PCR that has no specified primary branch using this precedence; retain an already explicitly prescribed category-specific primary method. Share a_i=d_i/sum(d_j); B_i=B*a_i. If no defensible causal physical driver exists for that common operation, use gate- and period-matched economic shares a_i=(q_i*p_i)/sum(q_j*p_j), with the complete independently intended output set, compatible quantity/price units, currency, representative prices and values before output-specific downstream processing.
