Classification mapping
Source
1. Scope and Applicability
This source-qualified method covers beeswax, other insect wax and spermaceti sold as wax, raw, refined or coloured. The source routes are mutually exclusive for a concrete lot; a species-free average or synthetic mixture is not representative. A spermaceti route is instantiated only for demonstrably lawful, traceable, pre-existing source material and its actual upstream burden. No contemporary whale capture or legal entitlement is assumed. Vegetable, mineral and synthetic wax, degras, candles, creams, wax foundations and other manufactured articles are excluded.
The insect route collects actual comb/cappings or another documented insect secretion independently from source production. Honey is a co-product only for a real bee source with actual honey output, never for other insects or spermaceti. The lawful-source spermaceti route starts from documented existing material and actual recovery; it does not reuse hive processes. First melting/separation and cleaning precede optional further refining or colouring. Grade and protect wax to actual production or first-refining handover; downstream formulations and distribution are excluded.

3. Reference Flow
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| What | Identified insect wax or lawful-source spermaceti in its declared sold state, not an aggregate of sources. |
| How much | 1 kg net sold wax excluding package and separately removable foreign material. |
| How well | Declare species/source, lawful provenance where relevant, treatment, colour, purity/grade, moisture/impurities and gate. |
| How long or cycle | Attribute source, collection, conditioning, treatment and shared service to actual lots and periods once. |

4. Measurement and Unit Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Required property | Required unit | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| m_net | sale lot | Mass | kg | Determine net wax from calibrated gross and package tare; exclude separable foreign matter and disclose retained impurities. |
| m_state | each process state | Mass | kg | Measure before/after separation and optional treatment; account for added colourant and removed material without generic yield. |
| m_balance | each source-qualified lot | Mass | kg | Reconcile source material, additions, wax grades, residues and stock change. |
| m_period | source and shared services | Time | period | Assign source, collection and shared asset events to actual periods without duplicate annualization. |
inventory_reference_normalization | all inventory rows | Actual flow property | exchange unit per reference flow | The inventory and collection aggregation fields below express final amounts per declared reference flow. Keep all raw collection records, original denominator qualifiers, route/period strata, unit conversions and allocation requirements. For each flow, first obtain its attributable amount in its own numerator unit using the existing rules; then divide by the measured accepted reference-output quantity of the same scope and multiply by the declared reference quantity. Do not mix species, states, gates or incompatible routes; count transfers and shared burdens once. A missing, zero or untraceable accepted-output denominator is a blocking data-quality issue. Keep provisional QA ranges on their explicitly stated bases; they are not conversion factors or production defaults. These are final foreground-package contributions, not replacements for stage quantitative references or stage-native unit-process datasets. Retain stage records separately. Compute normalized amount = attributable raw amount * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final reference-output quantity. Apply normalization exactly once. |
stage_throughput_linkage | stage records and final package contributions | Actual flow property and its stated raw basis | retain native numerator and stage denominator units | Keep the original lot, event, cohort, period and stage denominators with their units. Reconstruct the attributable numerator A with measured stage quantity Q_stage and documented attribution before final normalization. If a quoted amount a_B corresponds to an explicit stage basis B_stage (for example, 1000 kg), use A = a_B * Q_stage / B_stage. If r_stage is already an intensity in exchange-unit per stage-unit, instead use A = r_stage * Q_stage, with no second division by B_stage. A raw attributable total is used directly. Final contribution = A * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final output. Convert compatible units explicitly and apply each attribution/allocation share exactly once; never treat a quoted amount or intensity as a raw total. Link stage transfers, losses, rejects, stocks, shared services and allocation to the same actual route, period and final-output stratum. For a 1000 kg basis retain 1000 kg explicitly. Do not assume unit yield, equal fresh/dried mass, equal head mass, equal dose quality or interchangeable gates. Missing links, unsupported unit conversion, zero denominators and untraceable allocation block dataset production. Stage-native datasets retain their own stage reference; package contributions are a separate projection. |
5. System Boundary
Boundary Abstraction
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| declared_starting_condition | Identified insect production source or lawful pre-existing spermaceti-bearing material at actual collection/recovery interface. |
| starting_condition_role | Compatible upstream dataset carries colony/insect production or legal spermaceti-source burden to this interface; foreground collection does not recount upstream production. |
| product_classification_scope | Animal wax of CPC 02960, not vegetable wax or a manufactured wax article. |
| recursive_input_rule | Purchased same-category wax keeps its upstream burden and enters only the applicable later node, never a fictitious new harvest. |
| upstream_dataset_requirement | Route-, source-, real-output- and period-qualified burden; legal chain for spermaceti; actual honey output only for bee operations. |
| disclosure | Wax source, lawful acquisition, source handoff, real co-products, collection and processing route, state, quality, gate, periods and shared assets. |
Boundary Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
| b_source | source route | Instantiate one route per lot. Spermaceti requires lawful traceable existing input and compatible burden, never hypothetical new capture. Honey applies only to actual bee production. | un-cpc-3-notes;fao-beeswax |
| b_collect | collection | Record comb/cappings/other insect secretion collection or lawful spermaceti-material recovery distinctly from source production and later melting. | fao-beeswax;fao-beekeeping |
| b_condition | first separation | Include actual melting, separation and cleaning to first prepared wax with measured service and residues; no default recipe. | fao-beeswax;fao-beekeeping |
| b_treat | optional treatment | Include performed refining or colouring with before/after mass, input and residual; raw lots bypass. | un-cpc-3-notes;fao-beeswax |
| b_gate | grade and handover | Sort accepted, saleable downgrade and rejects; protect wax to actual production or first-refining handover; exclude formulation and freight. | un-cpc-3-notes |

| handover | Protective presentation and handover | required | saleable wax | Pack once and hand off at declared gate. | kg net sold wax |
The source ledger records only real independent outputs: honey only when bee honey is harvested; other insects and spermaceti have no presumed honey or capture co-products. The upstream source stops at wax-bearing-material handoff; foreground collection begins there. Melting tanks, filters, energy, storage and packages are allocated by actual consuming node and period once. A raw lot bypasses optional treatment. Each saleable grade has one destination; waste is not a product.

Electricity at the equipment supply point (energy_electricity)
Collection scope and applicability for energy. The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. They are not mandatory inputs or a default recipe. Document non-use; missing records are not zero. Add a separate concrete card for any other actual material instead of substituting one of these names or UUIDs. Preserve attribution and boundaries and avoid double counting components included in outsourced services.

Net wax at actual gate (sold_wax)
One reference role instantiated by real source, sold state and gate; no broad fixed UUID is assumed.
Raw reference-output records: Measure actual net wax at actual gate and link lot, source, state and period. Preserve the measured accepted lot quantity and every required qualifier. The amount below is the normalized reference exchange, not an assertion that a physical lot contains only one unit.

7. Allocation and Co-product Handling
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
| a_source | actual source output set | Enumerate wax and each real independently marketed output at its own handoff. Honey is a co-product only for actual bee honey. Prefer supported causal physical attribution; if unavailable, disclose period-specific economic allocation and sensitivity. Never assign wax automatic zero or whole-source burden. | fao-beeswax;fao-beekeeping |
| a_sperm | lawful spermaceti source | Require legal chain, compatible upstream burden, real other outputs and justified treatment of pre-existing material and terminal alternative. No new capture or fictional co-product. | un-cpc-3-notes |
| a_state | process and grades | Attribute actual wax states and disjoint saleable grades once. Colourant addition or purification does not make another original-wax output; waste is not marketed wax. | fao-beeswax |
| a_period | source phases and shared services | Index colony/source, collection, melting, filtration, storage and packaging periods; allocate shared tanks/filters/energy and package services by observed throughput/time across actual consumers once. Record replacement/termination. | fao-beeswax |
Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.
8. Foreground Data Collection, Calculation, and Quality Rules
Specific input identification before dataset completion
Identify the actual input for this operation from supplier specifications, equipment and primary records. This is a mandatory collection requirement, not an exchange. Before dataset completeness, represent each used material, formulated product, carrier or independently purchased service by one physically specific card with its native quantity/property; confirm a compatible UUID, or retain an explicit unresolved identity and do not claim a fully linked dataset. Do not substitute a conditional example for an unknown actual input, invent a recipe, omit required use or infer zero from missing records. Attribute shared use, reusable assets and inclusive services once; preserve the original stage/period and measured throughput link to final reference output. The former aggregate range is not a component limit or consumption default.

package_specific_input | cp_handover | Operation handover: Count actual consumed material or measured reusable package service, not later freight. Original collection denominator kind: process_output. Original quantity method: Calculate the attributable final-package exchange under inventory_reference_normalization and stage_throughput_linkage using the matched raw records. |
Material and service identification requirements
Identify each actual material or independently supplied service from supplier and activity records; record composition/specification, quantity, unit, node and period separately. Add one concrete exchange per identity before dataset completion; these requirements are not a single exchange. Reconcile with existing cards and inclusive services to avoid duplication. Allocate reusable assets over evidenced use and preserve physical quantities; normalize once to the matched final reference output. Missing identity or use evidence is a completeness gap, not zero use. Conditional examples below are not an exhaustive bill of materials and do not prescribe use or amounts.
