1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR applies to foreground data packages for solid pig iron or spiegeleisen supplied at the producing steelworks gate as pigs, blocks, or another primary form. It covers the blast-furnace ironmaking route, casting or equivalent solidification, blast-furnace gas cleaning, and the on-site treatment of slag and gas-scrubbing water when those operations occur within the reporting facility.

Pig iron is distinguished from steel and other ferro-alloys by its iron-carbon composition and non-malleable state. Spiegeleisen is the high-manganese member of this boundary. The dataset shall declare which product is made, its chemistry or grade, physical form, blast-furnace route, production site and geography, reporting period, and whether gas, slag, and wastewater treatment are on-site. Alternative smelting-reduction routes require a separately reviewed route-specific process map before using this PCR.
