1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR covers foreground production of continuous raw silk made by collectively reeling cocoon filaments and leaving the resulting silk unthrown. The reference product retains its declared sericin condition and is delivered as a marketable skein, hank, or cone. The foreground reporting unit begins with marketable fresh cocoons or dried/stifled cocoons received at the filature and ends with conditioned, tested, packed raw silk at the filature gate.

The PCR applies to mulberry and non-mulberry cocoon routes only when the silkworm species or commercial fibre type is declared. It supports hand, sitting-type, multi-end, semi-automatic, and automatic reeling, but these technologies shall be modelled as separate routes. Fresh-cocoon and dried-cocoon starting conditions, direct and indirect reeling, optional re-reeling, and any chemical cocoon treatment shall also be declared and kept separate. A weighted result may be reported only from documented production shares after each route has first been calculated independently.

The scope excludes silkworm rearing and mulberry cultivation except through an upstream cocoon dataset; transport before the declared filature gate unless included in that upstream dataset; thrown or twisted silk; spun silk and yarn made from silk waste; degumming; dyeing; weaving; knitting; textile finishing; garment manufacture; use; and end of life. Doupion or other specialty reeled silk may use this PCR only when it remains unthrown and its cocoon type, filament size, reeling conditions, and market specification are separately declared. Pierced cocoons converted by spinning are outside scope.
