1. Scope and Applicability
This PCR covers measured silk-worm cocoon lots demonstrated suitable for reeling at actual cocoon-producer handover. Fresh unprocessed and producer-stifled/dried reelable lots are distinct product states, never interchangeable kilograms without measured moisture normalization. Declare species/strain, grade, defect fraction, moisture, route and gate. Pierced or otherwise unreelable cocoons, live larvae, spun/raw silk, and post-handover reeling are excluded. Stifling performed only by the buyer after transfer is outside this foreground boundary.
2. Product Category Identity
| Field | Value |

| canonical_pcr_id | pcr.agriculture-forestry-and-fishery-products.live-animals-and-animal-products-excluding-meat.silk-worm-cocoons-suitable-for-reeling |
| classification_refs | CPC 3.0 02944 — silk-worm cocoons suitable for reeling |
| covered_products | Demonstrably reelable silk-worm cocoons handed over fresh or, when conditioned by the producer, as a separately measured stifled/dried lot. |
| excluded_products | Pierced/unreelable cocoons, live silkworms, silk fibre or yarn, raw silk, downstream cooking and reeling. |
| representative_product | Graded reelable cocoon lot with state-specific as-received mass and measured moisture. |
| production_route | Managed host-leaf feeding and cocoon spinning; independent collection; grade selection; optional producer-side stifling/drying; protected presentation. |
| market_state | Fresh unprocessed or producer-stifled/dried, separately identified; reelability and actual handover gate evidenced. |
The managed-biological parent is silkworm rearing through spinning. Host-leaf source, species, indoor climate and mounting regime are route deltas only when foreground evidence shows changed inventory, calculation or acceptance requirements. Fresh and producer-dried branches can coexist for different measured lots; the same cocoon cannot be counted at both handovers.
3. Reference Flow
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| What | Reelable silk-worm cocoons at actual producer handover, with fresh and producer-dried results stratified. |
| How much | 1 kg measured as-received cocoons in the declared state, excluding container and separated rejects. |
| How well | Reelability evidence, species/strain, grade/defects, shell/pupa state and moisture at handover. |
| How long or cycle | Documented host-leaf supply, silkworm cohort, collection, grading, optional drying and handover periods; shared assets allocated across actual service periods. |

| Reference unit group | Mass units 93a60a57-a4c8-11da-a746-0800200c9a66 |
| Reference unit | kg |
| Required qualifiers | species/strain; host-leaf source; cohort; fresh or producer-stifled/dried state; measured moisture; reelability/grade test and rejects; actual producer gate; package mass |
Instantiate one foreground reference from the actual handed-over lot, with all required qualifiers. The category may cover alternative states and producer gates, but each package has one declared species/state/gate/grade stratum and one measured accepted reference-output denominator. Do not pool incompatible states or claim equal service from equal mass. Route-specific source rows and reference_handover describe the same physical boundary event; their linked internal transfer is not another sale or another physical operation.
4. Measurement and Unit Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Required property | Required unit | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cocoon_mass | accepted and rejected lots | Mass | kg | Weigh each lot at its own handover after tare removal; reconcile accepted, downgraded, waste and sampled quantities without counting one lot twice. |
| moisture_state | fresh and dried lots | mass fraction | kg/kg | Measure moisture on representative state-specific samples; never substitute assumed fresh-to-dry yield. To compare states calculate dry-matter mass from measured moisture and report both original as-received masses. |
| grade_fraction | collected and accepted lots | mass fraction | kg/kg | Record tested reelability/defect classification and accepted, downgraded and rejected masses on the same measured basis; no universal quality threshold is imposed. |
| period_link | cohort and shared assets | time | reporting period | Link host leaves, larvae, tray or dryer services, yield and disposal to producing cohort and period; allocate shared burdens once. |
inventory_reference_normalization | all inventory rows | Actual flow property | exchange unit per reference flow | The inventory and collection aggregation fields below express final amounts per declared reference flow. Keep all raw collection records, original denominator qualifiers, route/period strata, unit conversions and allocation requirements. For each flow, first obtain its attributable amount in its own numerator unit using the existing rules; then divide by the measured accepted reference-output quantity of the same scope and multiply by the declared reference quantity. Do not mix species, states, gates or incompatible routes; count transfers and shared burdens once. A missing, zero or untraceable accepted-output denominator is a blocking data-quality issue. Keep provisional QA ranges on their explicitly stated bases; they are not conversion factors or production defaults. These are final foreground-package contributions, not replacements for stage quantitative references or stage-native unit-process datasets. Retain stage records separately. Compute normalized amount = attributable raw amount * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final reference-output quantity. Apply normalization exactly once. |
stage_throughput_linkage | stage records and final package contributions | Actual flow property and its stated raw basis | retain native numerator and stage denominator units | Keep the original lot, event, cohort, period and stage denominators with their units. Reconstruct the attributable numerator A with measured stage quantity Q_stage and documented attribution before final normalization. If a quoted amount a_B corresponds to an explicit stage basis B_stage (for example, 1000 kg), use A = a_B * Q_stage / B_stage. If r_stage is already an intensity in exchange-unit per stage-unit, instead use A = r_stage * Q_stage, with no second division by B_stage. A raw attributable total is used directly. Final contribution = A * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final output. Convert compatible units explicitly and apply each attribution/allocation share exactly once; never treat a quoted amount or intensity as a raw total. Link stage transfers, losses, rejects, stocks, shared services and allocation to the same actual route, period and final-output stratum. For a 1000 kg basis retain 1000 kg explicitly. Do not assume unit yield, equal fresh/dried mass, equal head mass, equal dose quality or interchangeable gates. Missing links, unsupported unit conversion, zero denominators and untraceable allocation block dataset production. Stage-native datasets retain their own stage reference; package contributions are a separate projection. |
5. System Boundary
Boundary Abstraction
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| declared_starting_condition | Purchased silkworm seed/larvae and host leaves or identified on-site host crop and breeding source; identify opening cohorts and upstream burdens. |
| starting_condition_role | Purchased inputs cross the foreground boundary with upstream datasets; opening biological stock and reusable assets are separately disclosed. |
| product_classification_scope | Reelable cocoon goods only; rejected spinning-grade cocoons and raw silk are separate products. |
| recursive_input_rule | If purchased cocoons of this category are added, retain upstream burdens and purchased mass once; never claim them as newly reared output. |
| upstream_dataset_requirement | Require supplier-specific or justified secondary datasets for seed/larvae, host leaves, fuel, water, packaging and assets where applicable. |
| disclosure | Report cohort, route, state, moisture, grade, each output destination, gate, period, shared assets and treatment of purchased cocoon input. |
Boundary Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
| b_rearing | all cohorts | Include managed feeding, climate control, mounting and spinning through intact spun-cocoon handoff. Host-crop production is upstream unless explicitly inside this foreground system; avoid double-counting on-site leaves. | fao-cocoon-quality;fao-cocoon-characteristics |
| b_nodes | collection and grading | Collect after spinning as an independent removal node, then classify incoming cocoons into accepted reelable, independently downgraded and rejected/waste destinations; not every harvested cocoon is reelable. | fao-cocoon-quality |
| b_drying | optional producer conditioning | Include stifling/drying only when producer performs it before declared sale gate; meter heat, electricity, moisture loss and rejects. Buyer-side conditioning, cooking and reeling are downstream. | fao-cocoon-drying |
| b_gate | all outputs | Include protected packing and pre-handover handling at actual producer gate but exclude downstream distribution after ownership transfer. Fresh and dried branches require different final-output identities. | fao-cocoon-quality;fao-cocoon-drying |
reference_handover_linkage | actual reference-product boundary | Record reference_handover as the same physical producer handover already represented by its source rows. It must not extend the gate or insert new processing, capture, storage, transport, service or capital burdens. For a unit-process projection, keep the actually operated stage references; the handover record may be a boundary interface in the resulting foreground package, not an invented standalone operation. Select one actual qualified route/output stratum; trace matching source and input as internal transfers and expose the accepted reference product once. If the source already ended at this gate, partition its existing handover responsibility without counting it again. |
6. Process Inventory Structure
Process Map
| process_id | process_name | inclusion | inclusion_condition | role | quantitative_reference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| rear | Managed silkworm rearing and spinning | required | Cohort produces cocoons | Managed biological parent; larvae, host leaves, climate and mounting to spun cocoon | kg spun cocoons per cohort |
| collect | Independent cocoon collection | required | Cocoon removal after spinning | Transfer intact collected cocoons to grading; separate incidental debris and loss | kg collected cocoons |
| grade | Reelability grading and destination sorting | required | Every sale lot | Incoming collected cocoons split into accepted, separately downgraded and waste states | kg graded input |
| dry | Producer-side stifling and drying | conditional | Performed before sale of a separately identified reelable dried lot | Fresh accepted cocoons to stabilized dried cocoons; water removal and rejects | kg incoming fresh accepted cocoons |
| present | Protected presentation and producer handover | required | Accepted sale lot | Package and hand over fresh or dried reelable lot at one declared gate | kg as-received accepted cocoon lot |
reference_handover | Actual producer reference-product handover | required | One actual declared route, state and producer gate per foreground package | Record the existing physical boundary handover once; linkage/accounting responsibility, not additional treatment or distribution | 1 kg accepted product at the declared handover |
Rearing and collection are separate because spinning ends before physical removal from mountages. Grading records accepted, independently marketed downgraded and waste destinations; a pierced cocoon is not reelable even if sold for spinning. The dry node receives a usable fresh grade and hands a distinct stabilized grade to presentation; dehydration is mass loss, not a co-product. Fresh and dried outputs coexist only for different measured lots. Host-leaf plots, rooms, trays, mountages, sorters and dryers shared across cohorts or nodes require documented service-period attribution.

Electricity at the equipment supply point (rear_energy_electricity)
Collection scope and applicability for rear_energy. The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. They are not mandatory inputs or a default recipe. Document non-use; missing records are not zero. Add a separate concrete card for any other actual material instead of substituting one of these names or UUIDs. Preserve attribution and boundaries and avoid double counting components included in outsourced services.

Dead larvae of the declared silkworm species sent to treatment (rear_dead_larvae_waste)
Conditional on this exact waste stream actually being generated and documented inside the existing process boundary. Record actual species/material, physical form, grade, moisture/composition where relevant, lot, recipient, quantity and gate. A named example does not establish actual production or a default recipe. Fresh unprocessed farm-gate reelable cocoons (fresh_farm_output)
Only actually fresh, unprocessed shell-and-pupa lot at farm gate; not broad reference or dried output.
Denominator and scope requirements:per kg as-received reelable cocoons handed over
Raw quantity and calculation requirements: Net fresh accepted mass at producer farm gate, with moisture and grade evidence. Original collection denominator kind: process_output.
Producer-handover linkage: Only when selected as the actual terminal source for this route, this state/gate-specific row supplies the same accepted physical goods to reference_handover_input. In that case it is an internal handover record, not a second external reference sale; otherwise retain its original intermediate role. Retain its exact identity and original route condition. Choose the actual terminal source, not all successive transfers; match the same lot and compatible species/state/gate evidence. A narrower fixed gate or species is never broadened. Process: Actual producer reference-product handover (reference_handover)

Product flows
Reelable silk-worm cocoons, state and gate qualified for actual producer-handover linkage (reference_handover_input)
This input matches the accepted goods represented by fresh_farm_output, dried_gate_output under their unchanged route conditions. It is an internal source-to-handover linkage, not a newly purchased same-category good and not extra production. The matching source and input cancel at the package boundary.
The actual route/state/gate is selected from foreground handover evidence; retain every required qualifier. Use the actual terminal source for the same accepted physical lot, not every successive stage transfer. Fixed source identities apply only to their exact species/state/gate; use an unbound compatible source role for other covered routes and resolve the actual foreground exchange before final dataset creation.

Reelable silk-worm cocoons, state and gate qualified (reference_product_handover)

| a_output | separately marketed outputs | First subdivide cohort, grade and conditioning records by physical lot. If reelable and separately marketed spinning-grade cocoons are joint outputs of an indivisible operation, document and justify physical causal allocation where supported; otherwise disclose economic allocation, price period and uncertainty. Unsold rejects and moisture loss are not co-products. | fao-cocoon-quality;fao-cocoon-drying |
| a_period | cohorts and host-crop phases | Attribute leaf inputs, rearing operations and cocoon outputs to actual cohort and reporting period; carry opening/closing stock and unfinished cohorts across calendar cut-offs. | fao-cocoon-quality |

Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.
8. Foreground Data Collection, Calculation, and Quality Rules
Specific input identification before dataset completion
Identify the actual input for this operation from supplier specifications, equipment and primary records. This is a mandatory collection requirement, not an exchange. Before dataset completeness, represent each used material, formulated product, carrier or independently purchased service by one physically specific card with its native quantity/property; confirm a compatible UUID, or retain an explicit unresolved identity and do not claim a fully linked dataset. Do not substitute a conditional example for an unknown actual input, invent a recipe, omit required use or infer zero from missing records. Attribute shared use, reusable assets and inclusive services once; preserve the original stage/period and measured throughput link to final reference output. The former aggregate range is not a component limit or consumption default.

Each seed lot, transplant, crown, cutting, larval stage, formulation, coating, preservative or separated residue actually used/generated requires its own concrete card where relevant to this role; these examples are alternatives, not a required recipe. Retain existing collection records and route-specific source evidence. Count-based planting records require measured or supplier-supported mass-per-unit when matched to a mass-based provider; retain count and mass as linked attributes rather than two purchases. Do not merge separate husk/shell or separate agents. A real mixed stream requires composition and recipient evidence and is counted once. Before completeness, record every applicable amount and native unit, link a compatible verified UUID or explicitly unresolved identity, preserve stock/return attribution, and normalize the attributable raw quantity once to the accepted reference output. Missing records are not zero; aggregate ranges are not individual-input defaults. | cp_cohort_inputs | Identity-specific exchanges and reconciled activity records |
Data Quality Requirements
| requirement_id | Applies to | Requirement | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| dq_identity | each lot | Demonstrate species/strain, grade, reelability, fresh/dried condition and actual gate; never infer reelability from CPC label. | sample, grade and buyer acceptance |
| dq_moisture | state comparison | Use representative moisture and original as-received masses; report sample and balance uncertainty. | samples and scale calibration |
| dq_complete | all nodes | Report selected nodes, inputs, accepted lots, downgraded sales, waste, periods and shared burdens; justify actual zero flows. | cohort ledger and node reconciliation |
| dq_source | upstream inputs | Preserve source, quantity and quality of seed, host leaves, energy, packaging and selected upstream datasets. | invoices, host-crop ledger and metadata |
9. Validation Rules
| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
|---|---|---|---|
| v_identity | reference and final outputs | Reject pierced/unreelable cocoons as reelable or a lot without grade/state/gate evidence; never bind fresh/unprocessed farm-gate UUID to dried, stifled or other-gate lot. | fao-cocoon-quality;fao-cocoon-drying |
| v_mass | fresh and dried lots | Require measured net mass and moisture per state; reconcile collection, grading, drying and final handover with sample and water-loss terms, not assumed dry yield. | fao-cocoon-characteristics;fao-cocoon-drying |
| v_routes | route deltas | Accept host, climate or mounting variant only with changed inventory, calculation, quality or validation evidence relative to managed parent; reject label-only route. | fao-cocoon-quality |
| v_attribution | multi-output and multi-period | Verify separately marketed outputs, waste, unfinished cohorts, shared assets and service periods; one cocoon mass and shared burden may have only one attributed handover. | fao-cocoon-quality |
| v_binding | flow cards | Resolve unresolved inputs to evidenced concrete UUIDs before TIDAS process exchange; leave other UUIDs unresolved until detail-confirmed. | |
v_foreground_emission_responsibility | Actual operated nodes and linked services | Record responsibility for on-site fuel combustion and refrigerant leakage when applicable: either quantified foreground emissions or a named linked process explicitly covering them, never merely a fuel-supply or electricity-production input. Assess special-taxon biological and residue emissions using species/route evidence, without a generic livestock factor. Identify any unresolved pathway and withhold a completeness claim; document supported absence and prevent duplicate upstream/downstream accounting. | |
v_feed_supply_intake_separation | All feed inputs | Reject an upstream feed inventory reduced by in-boundary refusal, spoilage or discarded leftovers without retaining their production burden. Reconcile supply, intake, stock, transfers and loss destinations under calc_feed_supply_and_intake. Do not reuse intake as supplied feed, assume zero-burden on-site feed or grant automatic avoided-product credits. | fao-feed-loss-accounting-2018 |
10. Published Dataset Profile
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| dataset_role | State-specific foreground cocoon-production data package, not a published PCR release claim. |
| downstream_use | Secondary/background dataset for downstream silk chains; flow, process and lifecyclemodel projection after exchange identity resolution. |
| allowed_use | Compare same reelable state, species/grade and gate; compare fresh/dried only on measured moisture-normalized basis. |
| excluded_use | Proxy for raw silk, spun silk, pierced cocoon feedstock or reeling service; assumed fresh-to-dry conversion. |
| required_metadata | Cohort, species/strain, host source, grade, moisture, stifling operator/timing, reject destinations, gate, period and allocation. |
| required_quality_disclosure | Mass/moisture uncertainty, grade test, sampling, upstream data quality, unresolved identities and shared-asset allocation. |
| update_trigger | New host/strain or drying route, grade acceptance or gate change, exact UUID evidence or measured factors superseding provisional screens. |

|---|---|---|---|
b_rearing | all cohorts | Include managed feeding, climate control, mounting and spinning through intact spun-cocoon handoff. Host-crop production is upstream unless explicitly inside this foreground system; avoid double-counting on-site leaves. | fao-cocoon-quality, fao-cocoon-characteristics |
b_nodes | collection and grading | Collect after spinning as an independent removal node, then classify incoming cocoons into accepted reelable, independently downgraded and rejected/waste destinations; not every harvested cocoon is reelable. | fao-cocoon-quality |
b_drying | optional producer conditioning | Include stifling/drying only when producer performs it before declared sale gate; meter heat, electricity, moisture loss and rejects. Buyer-side conditioning, cooking and reeling are downstream. | fao-cocoon-drying |
b_gate | all outputs | Include protected packing and pre-handover handling at actual producer gate but exclude downstream distribution after ownership transfer. Fresh and dried branches require different final-output identities. | fao-cocoon-quality, fao-cocoon-drying |
reference_handover_linkage | actual reference-product boundary | Record reference_handover as the same physical producer handover already represented by its source rows. |

|---|---|---|---|
a_output | separately marketed outputs | First subdivide cohort, grade and conditioning records by physical lot. If reelable and separately marketed spinning-grade cocoons are joint outputs of an indivisible operation, document and justify physical causal allocation where supported; otherwise disclose economic allocation, price period and uncertainty. Unsold rejects and moisture loss are not co-products. | fao-cocoon-quality, fao-cocoon-drying |
a_period | cohorts and host-crop phases | Attribute leaf inputs, rearing operations and cocoon outputs to actual cohort and reporting period; carry opening/closing stock and unfinished cohorts across calendar cut-offs. | fao-cocoon-quality |
a_shared | shared infrastructure | Record host plots, rearing rooms, trays, mountages, graders and dryers with actual consuming nodes, cohorts and service periods; allocate manufacture, repair and utilities by observed use or justified disclosed proxy only once. | fao-cocoon-quality, fao-cocoon-drying |
allocation_rule_4 | foreground_burden_allocation | Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness. |
