# Swine / pigs

## 1. Scope and Applicability

This PCR covers live domestic swine managed for breeding or market production and transferred alive at the producing farm gate. It covers managed reproduction when present, farrowing, nursing, nursery and grow-finish phases, feeding, animal health, housing and environmental control, manure handling, live-weight measurement, and the farm-gate transfer attributable to the declared cohort and reporting period.

Exclude wild boar, pork and carcasses, hides, bristles, semen, embryos, separately sold veterinary or husbandry services, slaughter, dressing, post-farm transport, and all activity after slaughterhouse receipt. Backyard, intermediate, and industrial systems may coexist as declared route variants, but their feed sourcing, housing and energy, manure pathway, infrastructure, and data shall remain separately identifiable.

## 2. Product Category Identity

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| canonical_pcr_id | `pcr.agriculture-forestry-and-fishery-products.live-animals-and-animal-products-excluding-meat.swine-pigs` |
| classification_refs | `CPC 3.0: 02140`, accepted exact classification edge documented by `docs/adr/cpc-02140.md` |
| covered_products | Live domestic swine/pigs for breeding or market production, transferred alive at the producing farm gate |
| excluded_products | Wild boar; pork, carcasses, skins and bristles; semen and embryos; separately sold husbandry or veterinary services; animals after slaughterhouse receipt |
| representative_product | Live market pig measured by live-weight mass immediately before farm-gate transfer |
| production_route | Managed swine production through the actual declared class-specific farm gate; breeding/farrowing and nursery/grow-finish are included only when operated, with manure responsibility for every represented animal phase and one common final handover |
| market_state | Live animal at the producing farm gate, before post-farm transport or slaughter |

The managed-production parent is swine husbandry through live-animal transfer. Backyard, intermediate, and industrial variants are alternative implementations: they may coexist within a reporting organization only when inventories and allocation drivers remain route-specific; otherwise select one route. Route deltas shall identify changes in feed origin, housing/environmental control, energy, manure pathway, shared assets, phase topology, and data quality, supported by current foreground evidence and the FAO LEAP pig guidance.

## 3. Reference Flow

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| What | Live domestic swine/pig transferred at the producing farm gate |
| How much | 1 kg live weight immediately before ownership or control transfer |
| How well | Declare animal class, sex where material, breed/genotype where known, production system, health/market eligibility, weighing basis, and geography |
| How long or cycle | One declared cohort or production batch; breeding-herd and shared-asset burdens are linked across their stated service periods |
| reference_flow_link | `live_pig_output` |

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Reference amount | 1 |
| Reference product flow | Live domestic swine at producing farm gate |
| Reference flow property | Mass `93a60a56-a3c8-11da-a746-0800200b9a66` |
| Reference unit group | Mass unit group `93a60a57-a4c8-11da-a746-0800200c9a66` |
| Reference unit | kg |
| Required qualifiers | Animal class; sex where material; breed/genotype where known; backyard, intermediate, or industrial route; live-weight measurement basis; geography; cohort and reporting period; farm-gate handover; intended output set; allocation method; actual terminal source row; operated phase topology; accepted lot id |
| Binding | Omit the unresolved reference product binding; independently confirmed Mass support UUIDs do not identify the product |

## 4. Measurement and Unit Rules

| rule_id | Applies to | Required property | Required unit | Rule |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `measure_live_weight` | reference animal and all live-animal transfers | Mass | kg live weight | Use calibrated scale records immediately before the declared handover. Head count is a parallel activity datum and shall not replace mass. |
| `convert_group_weight` | group weighing | Mass; count | kg; head | Divide the measured net group mass only for per-head checks; preserve total cohort mass and tare records. |
| `measure_feed` | feed inputs | Mass; dry matter where reported | kg as-fed; kg dry matter | Record each feed/formulation as supplied, moisture or dry-matter basis, and supplier/source; do not combine unlike feeds without composition records. |
| `measure_water_energy` | water and energy inputs | Volume or mass; carrier-specific energy | m3 or kg; kWh or MJ | Preserve measured water volume and each energy carrier; document conversions and meter allocation. |
| `measure_manure` | manure routes | Mass or volume; dry matter; N and volatile solids when used | kg or m3; kg DM; kg N; kg VS | Record manure state, storage/treatment route, destination, and the analytical or calculated basis used for emissions and exported nutrients. |
| `inventory_reference_normalization` | all inventory rows | Actual flow property | exchange unit per reference flow | The inventory and collection aggregation fields below express final amounts per declared reference flow. Keep all raw collection records, original denominator qualifiers, route/period strata, unit conversions and allocation requirements. For each flow, first obtain its attributable amount in its own numerator unit using the existing rules; then divide by the measured accepted reference-output quantity of the same scope and multiply by the declared reference quantity. Do not mix species, states, gates or incompatible routes; count transfers and shared burdens once. A missing, zero or untraceable accepted-output denominator is a blocking data-quality issue. Keep provisional QA ranges on their explicitly stated bases; they are not conversion factors or production defaults. These are final foreground-package contributions, not replacements for stage quantitative references or stage-native unit-process datasets. Retain stage records separately. Compute normalized amount = attributable raw amount * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final reference-output quantity. Apply normalization exactly once. |
| `stage_throughput_linkage` | stage records and final package contributions | Actual flow property and its stated raw basis | retain native numerator and stage denominator units | Keep the original lot, event, cohort, period and stage denominators with their units. Reconstruct the attributable numerator A with measured stage quantity Q_stage and documented attribution before final normalization. If a quoted amount a_B corresponds to an explicit stage basis B_stage (for example, 1000 kg), use A = a_B * Q_stage / B_stage. If r_stage is already an intensity in exchange-unit per stage-unit, instead use A = r_stage * Q_stage, with no second division by B_stage. A raw attributable total is used directly. Final contribution = A * declared reference quantity / measured accepted final output. Convert compatible units explicitly and apply each attribution/allocation share exactly once; never treat a quoted amount or intensity as a raw total. Link stage transfers, losses, rejects, stocks, shared services and allocation to the same actual route, period and final-output stratum. For a 1000 kg basis retain 1000 kg explicitly. Do not assume unit yield, equal fresh/dried mass, equal head mass, equal dose quality or interchangeable gates. Missing links, unsupported unit conversion, zero denominators and untraceable allocation block dataset production. Stage-native datasets retain their own stage reference; package contributions are a separate projection. |

## 5. System Boundary

### Boundary Abstraction

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| declared_starting_condition | Breeding/replacement animals and admitted piglets enter in their measured live state; feed, water, energy, veterinary products, and other managed inputs enter at the farm boundary |
| starting_condition_role | Managed biological production from admitted animals and inputs through live-pig farm-gate transfer |
| product_classification_scope | Live domestic swine before slaughter; meat, carcass, service, germplasm, and post-farm transport systems are outside scope |
| recursive_input_rule | Purchased or transferred live swine of the same category are recorded as upstream Product inputs with their actual class, live weight, origin, and gate; they shall not be represented by the reference output of the receiving process without a distinct upstream dataset. |
| upstream_dataset_requirement | Match animal class, live-weight basis, production system, origin, geography, period, and handover gate; feed datasets shall match formulation or ingredient identity and delivery state. |
| disclosure | Declare route variant, cohort phases, reporting period, animal movements, mortality, intended outputs, manure destinations, shared infrastructure, attribution choices, and unresolved identities. |

### Boundary Rules

| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `boundary_farm_gate` | all datasets | Include managed production through live-weight measurement and transfer at the producing farm gate; exclude post-transfer transport, slaughter, dressing, and processing. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `boundary_managed_phases` | production cohort | Include breeding/gestation/farrowing, nursing, nursery and grow-finish only when actually operated within the represented boundary; retain health, housing and manure responsibility for those phases. A piglet-only route ends at the actual piglet-producing gate and does not acquire unoperated nursery/grow-finish burdens. Purchased piglets retain their upstream burden when admitted to an operated receiving phase. | `fao-leap-pig-2018`; `ipcc-2019-livestock-manure` |
| `boundary_route_variant` | backyard, intermediate, or industrial route | Identify route-specific topology and inventory deltas for feed origin, housing and environmental control, energy, manure pathway, infrastructure, and data collection; do not average mutually exclusive routes without transparent weighting. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `boundary_periods` | breeding herd, pig cohort, and shared assets | Index breeding cycle, nursing, nursery, grow-finish, manure service period, and infrastructure service period; assign each input, output, loss, and event once. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `boundary_shared_assets` | housing, ventilation, feeding, water, storage, and manure assets | Identify all consuming nodes and service periods and allocate by measured occupancy, live-weight-days, throughput, metered use, or another documented causal driver without duplicate burdens. | |

## 6. Process Inventory Structure

### Process Map

| process_id | process_name | inclusion | inclusion_condition | role | quantitative_reference |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |

| `nursery_grow_finish` | Nursery and grow-finish production | conditional | Include only the nursery/growth/finishing phases actually operated for the declared transferred class; omit this node for a piglet-only route with no such operation. | Managed growth and its actual terminal live-animal source; no imputed later finishing | accepted live mass transferred from the operated phase |
| `manure_management` | Manure collection, storage, treatment, use, and export | required | Include all manure generated inside the represented animal phases; route-specific operations may be zero but shall be declared. | Manure responsibility and direct emissions | kg or m3 manure by state and reporting period |
| `reference_handover` | Actual class-specific farm-gate handover | required | Every accepted final lot, from its actual terminal operated source only. | Reconcile the same physical output to one reference; no additional husbandry, transport or sale | 1 kg accepted live domestic swine at the declared farm gate |

###### Electricity at the equipment supply point (`breeding_energy_input_electricity`)

**Collection scope and applicability for breeding_energy_input.** The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. ###### Electricity at the equipment supply point (`manure_energy_input_electricity`)

**Collection scope and applicability for manure_energy_input.** The following concrete identities have separate cards and apply only when use or generation is evidenced inside the original process scope. They are not mandatory inputs or a default recipe. Document non-use; missing records are not zero. Add a separate concrete card for any other actual material instead of substituting one of these names or UUIDs. Preserve attribution and boundaries and avoid double counting components included in outsourced services.

Record energy for collection, pumping, aeration, separation, treatment, and on-farm handling by carrier.

Denominator and scope requirements：per kg live pig output

Raw quantity and calculation requirements: Apply the declared IPCC-compatible method and prevent duplicate assignment between manure management and land application. Original collection denominator kind: process_output.

Coverage of this single N2O card: use calc_manure_n2o_coverage to calculate direct and applicable indirect components separately for the represented node, then report only their non-overlapping molecular-N2O sum assigned to this card. Keep storage and managed-soil calculations distinct. Exclude components explicitly covered by a linked process, retain the coverage evidence, and do not duplicate them as both aggregate and component exchanges. ### Process: Actual class-specific farm-gate handover (`reference_handover`)

Select one actual terminal source for each accepted lot: live_piglet_output for a piglet-producing route without a later operated growth phase, live_grow_finish_output for an operated nursery/growth/finishing route, or breeding_animal_output for a separately transferred breeding/culled-animal reference lot. Keep class, lot, period and gate separate. The source-to-handover link describes the same physical event; it creates no extra husbandry, handling, transport or external sale. At package aggregation cancel the matched internal source and input; live_pig_output is the sole external reference for that lot. A missing source, missing producing phase or unsupported route blocks production.

## 7. Allocation and Co-product Handling

| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | source_ids |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `allocation_output_set` | all intended outputs | Enumerate live market pigs, independently transferred piglets, breeding animals, culled animals, and exported manure. Mortalities and unusable manure remain losses/waste unless an evidenced intended handover changes their role. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `allocation_physical_first` | multi-output process | First subdivide measured phase-specific inputs and emissions. For remaining inseparable burdens, use a documented causal physical driver such as live-weight gain, live-weight-days, nutrient content, or measured service; economic allocation requires justification and sensitivity disclosure. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `allocation_period` | breeding herd and cohort phases | Link breeding, nursing, nursery, grow-finish, replacement, culling, and termination events to declared periods and outputs; record carryover and prevent double attribution between cohorts. | `fao-leap-pig-2018` |
| `allocation_shared_infrastructure` | shared buildings and equipment | Enumerate consuming nodes and service periods; allocate each asset once by measured occupancy, live-weight-days, throughput, run time, or metered use and retain the selected driver's evidence. | |
| `allocation_manure` | exported manure | Record the selected attribution or substitution treatment, destination, mass, dry matter and nutrient content. Do not apply both allocated burdens and an avoided-product credit to the same output unless the study method explicitly requires and discloses both. | `fao-leap-nutrient-flows-2018` |

Concrete cards do not inherit numerical ranges from the former aggregate card. Determine quantities from original records, stock/meter reconciliation and the declared reference flow; no default quantity or numeric screen is supplied without evidence matching the identity, unit, period and boundary. Missing range evidence is a quality disclosure, not zero use or proof of completeness.

## 8. Foreground Data Collection, Calculation, and Quality Rules

### Specific input identification before dataset completion

Identify the actual input for this operation from supplier specifications, equipment and primary records. This is a mandatory collection requirement, not an exchange. Before dataset completeness, represent each used material, formulated product, carrier or independently purchased service by one physically specific card with its native quantity/property; confirm a compatible UUID, or retain an explicit unresolved identity and do not claim a fully linked dataset. Do not substitute a conditional example for an unknown actual input, invent a recipe, omit required use or infer zero from missing records. Attribute shared use, reusable assets and inclusive services once; preserve the original stage/period and measured throughput link to final reference output. The former aggregate range is not a component limit or consumption default.

Before dataset completeness create separate cards for physically distinct streams, with actual material/state, quantity, destination and Product/Waste role. A genuinely mixed waste stream may remain one physically defined mixture with measured composition; do not invent separation or count its components again. Keep unlike units separate, retain the original allocation and reference normalization, and reconcile the output balance. Identify actual functions before co-product allocation; waste does not acquire a co-product share merely by having mass. Confirm a compatible UUID or explicitly retain its unresolved identity. Missing records never establish zero or exclusion. `manure_residue_waste_specific_output`: Record material with no independently intended handover as waste at its actual destination; UUID unresolved. Denominator and scope requirements：per kg live pig output Raw quantity and calculation requirements: Record mass, state, dry matter, nutrient content where available, and destination; do not label loss or disposal as co-product. Original collection denominator kind: process_output. Calculate the attributable final-package exchange under inventory_reference_normalization and stage_throughput_linkage using the matched raw records. This is a mandatory specific-output collection requirement, not a selected exchange. Preserve every actual waste, residue, reject and co-product from this operation. Create separate cards for physically distinct streams with actual material, composition/state, quantity, receiving route and Product/Waste role before dataset completeness; verify a compatible UUID or explicitly retain its unresolved identity. A genuinely mixed stream may remain one physically defined mixture supported by composition records; never invent separation or count its components again. Keep liquid and solid treatment quantities separate. ### Calculation Rules

| rule_id | Applies to | Formula or rule | Inputs | Output | source_ids |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `calc_reference_normalization` | all exchanges | normalized amount = attributable exchange / accepted farm-gate live weight | attributable exchange; calibrated accepted live weight | exchange per kg live pig | `mass-balance-identity` |
| `calc_feed_consumed` | feed | Feed input carrying upstream burden = opening stock + receipts - closing stock - documented unused returns or transfers out. Keep in-boundary spoilage and refusals in that input. Separately derive biological intake = that input - measured uneaten losses, with moisture/DM reconciliation; use intake, not purchased input, in animal metabolism calculations. Record each loss destination and include its treatment or manure contribution once. | formulation-specific stock and delivery records | kg as-fed and kg DM by phase | `review-fao-pig-lca-2018` |
| `calc_transport_service` | included inbound transport | sum(payload tonnes × loaded km) for foreground-controlled inbound legs only | payload; loaded distance; boundary decision | t*km | |
| `calc_live_weight_days` | phase and shared burdens | sum live weight × days by animal class and phase; do not overlap phase dates | dated herd inventory and weights | kg live-weight-days | |
| `calc_manure_emissions` | methane and nitrous oxide | apply declared IPCC-compatible category and manure-system equations to collected activity; retain all parameters | category; population/time; intake/excretion; VS; N; system shares; climate; factors | kg CH4 and kg N2O | `ipcc-2019-livestock-manure` |
| `calc_nitrogen_balance` | manure route | N input/excretion = N retained/exported + N in residues + quantified N losses ± storage change | feed/animal and manure N records; export analysis; method parameters | kg N by route | `fao-leap-nutrient-flows-2018` |
| `calc_feed_supply_and_intake` | `breeding_feed_input`; `grow_finish_feed_input` | Feed supply used by the represented operation = opening feed stock + receipts + on-site feed entering the operation - closing feed stock - documented unused returns or transfers out. Retain in-boundary spoilage, refusals and discarded leftovers in that supply. Actual intake = that supply - measured uneaten/discarded losses, after matching moisture/DM and period; use intake only for nutrition/metabolism. Opening stock retains its prior burden and is not another purchase. Trace any unused return or transfer and its burden destination; no automatic substitution credit. Attribute production once, through either the purchased-feed dataset or the represented on-site crop/collection node, never both for the same feed. Include actual waste treatment and manure contributions once, not as a second feed-production burden. | `cp_feed_supply_and_intake` | separate feed supply, intake and loss quantities, in matched as-fed/DM units | `review-fao-pig-lca-2018` |
| `calc_manure_n2o_coverage` | `manure_nitrous_oxide_output` | For each actual manure stage, calculate direct N2O, volatilisation/deposition-derived indirect N2O, and applicable leaching/runoff-derived indirect N2O separately with documented species/system activity and factor basis. Convert N2O-N to molecular N2O by 44/28 once; do not reconvert molecular masses. Retain component worksheets. Where an existing N2O card covers both direct and indirect emissions, report their non-overlapping sum; where separate direct/indirect cards exist, assign each component once to its matching card and never also report the sum. Pasture deposition and land application use the managed-soil method, not a manure-storage factor. Assign foreground versus linked treatment/pasture coverage explicitly; a manure export does not erase earlier emissions, and already covered downstream emissions are not repeated. Account for stock, transfers and previous N losses in the nitrogen cascade; indirect N2O is a downstream transformation of its precursor, not a second source-stage N loss. Normalize attributed molecular masses once to the accepted reference output. Document inapplicability; absent pathway data are not zero. | `cp_manure_n2o_coverage` | kg molecular N2O by pathway and assigned existing card | `ipcc-2019-livestock-manure`; `ipcc-managed-soils-2019` |
| `chemical_species_mass_accounting` | `elementary_nutrient_emissions` | Final elementary exchanges use the mass of the identified substance and one actual receiving compartment. Keep nutrient/activity ledgers separate: species-specific N2O-N × 44/28 gives N2O, NH3-N × 17/14 gives NH3, nitrate-N × 62/14 gives nitrate, and phosphate-P × 95/31 gives phosphate. If the selected flow is elemental phosphorus instead, report kg P and convert phosphate mass by 31/95 only when that species basis is evidenced. Apply a conversion exactly once only when the method output is on the elemental basis; measured compound mass is not reconverted. Total nutrient losses cannot be assigned to a single species without a supported split, and residual/retained soil nutrient is not an emission. Keep direct/indirect pathway ledgers and avoid repeating a pathway already included in the chosen method or upstream inventory. Factor uncertainty ranges screen factors on their stated basis, not final compound amounts or admissible site emissions. Normalize the attributable compound mass once using the accepted reference quantity and the matched measured output. Unknown activity, identity or compartment remains an evidence gap and blocks a completeness claim. | `cp_manure_records`; species-specific activity ledger, method pathway and factor basis, matched accepted output | Identity-specific exchanges and reconciled activity records | |

### Data Quality Requirements

| requirement_id | Applies to | Requirement | Evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `dq_identity_gate` | reference output | Retain animal class, route, live-weight basis, producing-farm gate, timestamp, origin/destination, and signed transfer; no feed-grade, count-only, at-plant, meat, or carcass substitute. | scale and transfer records; unresolved UUID review note |
| `dq_route_phase` | route variants and periods | Identify backyard/intermediate/industrial route, all represented phases and sites, and phase dates; justify any aggregation and preserve weights. | route declaration; herd and facility records |
| `dq_completeness` | inventory | Reconcile animals, feed, water/energy meters, mortalities, manure, intended outputs, and stock/storage changes over the same period. | signed reconciliation and exception log |
| `dq_method_parameters` | calculated emissions and allocation | Retain method version, every factor and parameter, source, units, conversions, allocation driver, and sensitivity case. | calculation workbook and source references |
| `dq_shared_assets` | infrastructure | List each shared asset, consuming nodes, service period, and selected causal driver; demonstrate the burden is assigned once. | asset register; meter/run-time/occupancy evidence |

## 9. Validation Rules

| rule_id | Applies to | Rule | severity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `validate_reference_identity` | reference flow | Fail if the output is not live domestic swine weighed by mass at the producing farm gate, or if either rejected candidate UUID is used. | error |
| `validate_terminal_route` | phase topology and reference handover | Require one actual terminal source matched to live_pig_output by class, lot, period, gate and accepted mass. A piglet-only route without nursery/growth omits nursery_grow_finish; a growth route retains only operated phases and linked upstream piglet burdens. Reject missing producing phases, imputed later finishing, combined incompatible classes, double-counted internal transfers or more than one reference sale for the same lot. | error |
| `validate_reference_uuid` | reference binding | Keep the reference Product-flow UUID empty until one compatible product identity is detail-confirmed. Independently confirmed Mass property and unit-group UUIDs are support references only; unresolved product identity blocks active/publication readiness. | error |
| `validate_route_delta` | route variants | Fail if backyard, intermediate, or industrial routes are combined without route-specific topology, inventory categories, calculation/validation deltas, current evidence, and transparent weights. | error |
| `validate_phase_period` | phases and reporting periods | Fail when breeding, nursing, nursery, grow-finish, manure, replacement, culling, or asset service periods are relevant but unindexed, overlap without explanation, or are attributed twice. | error |
| `validate_output_roles` | intended outputs, residues, and waste | Fail unless every live output and exported manure handover is recorded and mortalities/unusable manure are distinguished from intended products. | error |
| `validate_shared_assets` | shared infrastructure | Fail unless each shared asset names at least two consuming nodes or periods, its service boundary and driver, and a no-double-counting check. | error |
| `validate_flow_identity` | unresolved Product inputs | Determine the actual energy carrier, water supply and any foreground-controlled inbound transport from records; final generated exchanges require compatible verified concrete UUIDs. | error |
| `validate_emission_identity` | elementary outputs | Fail fixed binding unless substance, receiving compartment, flow property, unit group, and support references are detail-confirmed; broad pollutant labels remain unresolved. | error |
| `validate_ranges` | all important flows | For every supplied quantitative screen, verify the concrete exchange, bounds, compatible unit and denominator, basis, applicability, evidence kind and external sources; keep EN/ZH/projection equivalent. Provisional reasoned estimates are non-enforcing review prompts, not default quantities, allowed losses or proof of completeness. Where no compatible quantitative bound is supported, explicitly report screening unavailable and review measurements, matched component balances and uncertainty; do not invent a range to satisfy this check. Final reference normalization remains exact and is not an empirical yield. Actual exchange quantities, protocols and compatible unit/conversion evidence are required independently of screening. | error |
| `validate_mass_n_balance` | animals and manure | Investigate unexplained animal mass, manure mass, or nitrogen imbalance; record storage change and transformations rather than forcing closure. | error |
| `v_feed_loss_burden` | Feed balances | Reject a feed-input inventory that subtracts in-boundary wastage without retaining its upstream burden. Match intake, losses, stocks and unused returns, and document the loss treatment; no automatic co-product credit. | `review-fao-pig-lca-2018` |
| `v_foreground_emission_responsibility` | Actual operated nodes and linked services | Record responsibility for on-site fuel combustion and refrigerant leakage when applicable: either quantified foreground emissions or a named linked process explicitly covering them, never merely a fuel-supply or electricity-production input. Assess special-taxon biological and residue emissions using species/route evidence, without a generic livestock factor. Identify any unresolved pathway and withhold a completeness claim; document supported absence and prevent duplicate upstream/downstream accounting. | |
| `v_feed_supply_intake_separation` | All feed inputs | Reject an upstream feed inventory reduced by in-boundary refusal, spoilage or discarded leftovers without retaining their production burden. Reconcile supply, intake, stock, transfers and loss destinations under calc_feed_supply_and_intake. Do not reuse intake as supplied feed, assume zero-burden on-site feed or grant automatic avoided-product credits. | `review-fao-pig-lca-2018` |
| `v_manure_n2o_coverage` | Applicable manure and managed-soil N pathways | Require explicit direct and indirect pathway coverage, stage N balances and molecular-mass conversion. Map each component to an existing N2O card or an explicitly covering linked process once under calc_manure_n2o_coverage. Missing indirect-pathway evidence prevents a completeness claim; no default zero or duplicate aggregate-plus-components. | `ipcc-2019-livestock-manure`; `ipcc-managed-soils-2019` |
